Abstract

From improving efficiency to optimizing energy consumption to integrating renewable energy sources into power grids, artificial intelligence (AI) is now disrupting the energy sector. Machine learning, deep learning, predictive analytics and other AI-driven technologies assist in demand forecasting, grid stability, and management of storage of energy. While AI adoption in energy systems is on the rise, so too is the risk of cyber threats, which require stringent protective measures. Based on data until October 2023, this study examines the role of AI in revolutionizing energy production, distribution, and utilization, alongside identifying the cyber threats and mitigation strategies necessary for secure and resilient energy systems. The research reviews how AI can impact smart grids, modern industrial energy consumption, and household energy applications, and outlines its potential to decrease carbon emissions, improve energy security, and defend networks from cyber threats.
